Debenhams fashion show

It was another amazing event held at Debenhams Leicester. The personal shoppers put together this fashion show in aid of Loros and Coping with cancer. The theme for the show was Beach wear, very fitting for this beautiful weather we are experiencing and this being holiday season.

I love photographing the fashion show and seeing the styles come to life on each model. Our Debenhams fashion shows are always a massive hit with a brilliant turn out, here are some images from this event…

The Capsule wardrobe

The Capsule Wardrobe method has been used heavily in the fashion world and includes a collection of essential pieces that can be mixed and matched throughout the seasons.

The term “Capsule Wardrobe” was created by the owner of: Wardrobe – A London boutique in the 70’s.

The pieces in the wardrobe have the versatility to take you from day to night. So wear your outfit to a work meeting, then add a statement necklace and some heels and you’re ready for cocktails with friends.

Creating a Capsule Wardrobe minimises those painful moments staring in to your clothing collection and wondering “will this skirt go with that top?” as every item in a Capsule Wardrobe is interchangeable.

Layering

We have now entered into the Autumn / Winter season which means adding extra layers is crucial for this time of year. Layering is not just about keeping warm though, there is fun to be had when adding on an item of clothing to finish a look.

To layer an outfit you can use knitwear, jackets and accessories to bring a different texture / look to your outfit foundation which is typically a blouse, t-shirt or vest.

Long cardigans are great for layering as they keep the outfit flowing and can introduce a different block colour from your bottom half to make the top the focal point of any outfit.

 Personal Shopper tips

Within my job at Phase-Eight I regularly work with the Debenhams Personal Shoppers to help customers find outfits for all sorts of occasions. The Personal Shoppers have amazing knowledge style and can answer any question / give advice when it comes to fashion.

At Debenhams Leicester, our Personal Shoppers use Capsule Wardrobe regularly in their “wardrobe update” appointments. I caught up with Hafsa, a personal shopper at our Leicester store who offered some tips to help anyone wanting to create their very own capsule wardrobe

1 – Use base colours such as black, blue and grey on your bottom half and team that with bold prints and accent colours. All base colours should be able to go with any print or colour to help maximise your choice of outfit.

2 — Creating a Capsule Wardrobe is all about maximising outfits with the amount of items you have. Have a look in your current wardrobe and ask yourself: if you need to de-clutter or add new pieces.

3 – You can use accessories to give you a stronger look. Belts are great for breaking up block colours and giving the illusion of a waist.
